getaway

Yes, that's right: a getaway. NOT a vacation. Maybe for Nate but not for me. It was nice to get away for a while, but it's hard to "vacation" when there's a 6 month old along. It was especially hard on her too. We keep a tight schedule when we're at home, but when we are away it gets really hard.
Lydia is happy to be home. She's been sick the last 2 days so I'm glad to be home too.

Anyway, back to our "vacation". We went to the twin cities for a few days. We planned to do some things for the girls because there is a lot to do up there. We stayed at the Hilton and this was our view:
And by the way...if all we did was watch the airplanes out of our hotel window, that would have been just fine with Cassidy. She's totally amazed by them. We even shared an elevator with a pilot. Pretty cool.

SUNDAY:
We went to the MN Zoo. It's amazing how much time is spent just walking around that place. it's really spread out, so we got a lot of exercise that day. Cassidy's favorite thing at the Zoo: watching the airplanes fly over our heads. Go figure!
Monday:
Filled up the Explorer at $3.95. The highest we've ever paid. yuk.
Went to the Children's Museum in St Paul. Pretty neat for kids. It was bigger than I thought it was, but we got out of there in a reasonable amount of time. I think cassidy enjoyed playing in the water with the shells & boats the best.
Later we went to Ikea. Record breaking: only 1 1/2 hours and less than $20 spent. Nate was proud of me, or I kept telling him that he should be proud of me. Although we're planning on going back to furnish our basement after we fix the floor: so maybe not.
For dinner we met my friend and her fiance at the Cheesecake Factory. It was great to meet him and if you read this Abbi: we approve! He seems like a great guy.
That night Cassidy and Nate went swimming at the hotel pool. they had a good time. And of course Cassidy was timid of the water at first, but by the time we had to go she didn't want to!
Tuesday:
Our last day: We spent the day at MOA. Lots of exercise once again. Visited the underwater world. It's expensive. That's all.

It's always nice to get home.
